Eurosport is going to bring motorcycling fans a special run of programming over the coming weeks, featuring classic superbike races, rider interviews, discussion and debate.
In the absence of live race action due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Eurosport will fill the void with a new regular show – Superbike Sunday – starting on 12 April, which was scheduled to be the opening race day of the 2020 British Superbike Championship.
It will be fronted by Eurosport’s regular British/World Superbikes presenting team, led by Matt Roberts and former superbike riders James Whitham, James Haydon and six-time British champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne.
The bumper five-and-a-half-hour show will centre around a brand new vodcast, which will feature interviews with the sport’s top riders and debate with the Eurosport superbikes team, alongside a selection of classic British Superbike races.
In addition to the vodcast, fans can watch exclusive interviews with British Superbikes race director Stuart Higgs and 2015 champion Josh Brookes, plus special interviews in Eurosport’s ‘Social Distancing Garage’, featuring Tommy Bridewell and Danny Buchan.
Classic races on the first show include a look back at the famous 2011 championship, which saw one of greatest finishes in the series’ history with a fierce battle between John Hopkins and Tommy Hill, as well as the final round of the 2017 championship at Brands Hatch, plus action from one of the most memorable races from the 2015 series – round 11 at Silverstone.
Further editions of Superbike Sunday will follow over the coming weeks, in the gaps left by the suspension of all scheduled rounds of the British and World Superbike championships.
