BBC One and ITV will screen live coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup final from Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday, 15 July, as France and Croatia do battle for the right to succeed Germany as world champions.
Over the course of five weeks and 64 matches, 32 nations have battled it out for the sport’s biggest prize and now the moment of truth is finally here as Didier Deschamps’ France take on Zlatko Dalic’s Croatia for a place in football history.
The French topped their group with narrow victories over Australia and Peru and a draw with Denmark without finding their best form.
They went on to really show what they are capable of in the knockout stages, with teenager Kylian Mbappe particularly impressive as they eliminated Argentina, Uruguay and Belgium to put them in a position to emulate their only previous World Cup win on home soil in 1998 against Brazil.
Didier Deschamps could write his name into the history books by becoming only the third man to win the World Cup as both a player and a coach after Brazil’s Mario Zagallo and Germany’s Franz Beckenbauer.
Croatia have never previously reached a World Cup final, coming closest in that same tournament when they were coincidentally eliminated by Les Bleus, and they could become the eighth different country to win the competition.
Zlatko Dalic’s men overcame Denmark and Russia on penalties, before coming back from 1-0 down against England in their semi-final to win 2-1 after extra time.
Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium plays host to the grand final and as always both the BBC and ITV will have live coverage of the climax to the biggest sporting event of the year as France take on Croatia.

Gary Lineker presents the BBC’s live coverage of France v Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
BBC Sport’s build-up to the final will start on BBC One at 3pm ahead of a 4pm kick-off, with studio analysis from Alan Shearer, Rio Ferdinand and Jurgen Klinsmann, while match commentary is provided by Guy Mowbray and Martin Keown, and pitchside reports from Jason Mohammad.
Live online coverage of the match, as well as text commentary, extra streams including Ultra HD coverage and Radio 5 live commentary, will be made available via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
Extended highlights and a full match replay will be broadcast later in the evening on BBC One.

ITV begins its build-up at 2.55pm, providing an insight into France and Croatia and looking at their road to the final, as well as coverage of the closing ceremony, ahead of the 4pm kick-off.
Studio analysis comes from Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon, with Jacqui Oatley, Slaven Bilic and Ryan Giggs at the stadium pitchside, while match commentary comes from Clive Tyldesley and Glenn Hoddle.
