Premier Sports and BT Sport will share live coverage of the 2021 Greene King IPA Championship final.
After 11 rounds of regular season action, the top two sides in English rugby union’s second tier – Ealing Trailfinders and Saracens – will compete in a two-fixture final to determine which side will be promoted to the top-tier Gallagher Premiership next season.
Taking place on consecutive Sundays in June, Trailfinders Sports Club, home of Ealing Trailfinders, will be the venue for the first leg of the final, which will be broadcast live on Premier Sports on 13 June.
A week later, the second leg at Saracens’ StoneX Stadium will be shown exclusively live on BT Sport, where the winner shall be the club with the highest aggregate score over the two fixtures.
Premier Sports’ live coverage of the first leg will be presented by Laura-Jane Jones, with analysis and commentary from David Flatman and Topsy Ojo.
Both matches will be streamed live via the broadcaster’s respective online platforms – Premier Player and the BT Sport Website/App.
Organised by the Rugby Football Union (RFU), the 2020/21 Championship season was shortened due to the pandemic, having only began its 11-round schedule in March.
After the RFU’s previous TV deal with Sky Sports ended in the summer of 2020, the second-tier Championship was left without a mainstream TV partner this season, with selected matches streamed live online on a pay-per-view basis via the club’s own websites.
The two-legged final of this season’s RFU Championship will be the first and only matches of the season to be broadcast on major TV networks.
