Eurosport to show Adria Tour & Ultimate Tennis Showdown

Top-class men’s tennis is back on Eurosport in June with live coverage of two tournaments featuring some of the sport’s biggest names going head-to-head.

The Adria Tour, supported by the Novak Djokovic Foundation, will feature current world number one Novak Djokovic, Austria’s Dominic Thiem, Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov and Croatian pair Borna Coric and Marin Cilic, with matches to be played over the best of three sets and four games in each set.

Eurosport has committed to showing live coverage for UK audiences of the opening two rounds of the series from Belgrade, Serbia, on 13-14 June and Zadar, Croatia on 20-21 June.

Coverage of the following rounds in Banja Luka and Sarajevo will be confirmed in due course. A scheduled round in Montenegro has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

In addition, Eurosport will also screen live action from the inaugural Ultimate Tennis Showdown event on 13 June, the brainchild of respected coach and regular Eurosport tennis pundit Patrick Mouratoglou.

Hosted at Mouratoglou’s academy in the south of France, a string of top players have signed up to take part including Stefanos Tsitsipas, Dominic Thiem, Alexei Popyrin, Matteo Berrettini, David Goffin and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown “seeks to revolutionise tennis” through a series of innovations, such as the option of coaching time outs and mic’d up coaches, to engage new audiences.

Matches will last no longer than one hour and be divided into 12-minute quarters with a two minute break at each change over.

All the action from both tournaments will be shown live across Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, as well as online via streaming service Eurosport Player.

Commenting on the return of live tennis, Eurosport’s Andrew Georgiou said:

“The excitement around live tennis’ return has been building and the coming together of the world’s best tennis talent this weekend is a chance for fans to see how the preparations of best players in the world are faring ahead of the Grand Slams in August and September.

“Our deep and rich history in telling the stories from tennis that matter, means we are set to continue creating rewarding experiences for fans to enjoy, across any device and any time they choose.”

During the pause in televised sport due to the coronavirus pandemic, Eurosport has broadcast a number of special programmes and classic matches from the tennis archives, including its recent Roland Garros You Say We Play series.

The resumption of live action in June hopefully kick-starts a summer of tennis that includes the re-scheduled French Open at Roland-Garros, from 20 September to 4 October, which will be shown live on Eurosport.
