Eurosport will bring to life the most memorable stages of Giro d’Italia from the last seven years as part of a new series of programmes this May.
In collaboration with Global Cycling Network (GCN), Eurosport will broadcast a live and interactive daily show, featuring classic stage action chosen by a panel of experts from GCN, throughout the three weeks that were due to stage 2020 edition of the famous Italian cycling event, before its postponement in March.
The 90-minute ‘Giro d’Italia Classic Stages shows’ will be broadcast on Eurosport 1 at 2.30pm from 8-31 May (except for ‘rest days’ on 18 and 25 May), promising to give cycling fans a unique insight into the very best stages, as well as revisiting unforgettable scenes from the past seven years of the race.
Each programmes will include fresh analysis on the action led by regular Eurosport and GCN broadcaster Dan Lloyd, alongside Eurosport cycling regulars including Sir Bradley Wiggins, Alberto Contador, Bernie Eisel, Magnus Backstedt, Brian Smith, Carlton Kirby and Rob Hatch.
Battles for the ‘maglia rosa’ have stirred the passion of millions and produced some of the most memorable moments in the sport.
The opening episode on Saturday, 8 May, will recall just how Luca Paolini took audiences by surprise to win an exciting stage three in the 2013 edition.
With other episodes including classic action from stage 14 in 2016 when Esteban Chaves beat Steven Kruijswijk in a sprint and Chris Froome’s attack in 2018, every angle from 21 memorable stages over the last seven years will be covered on both Eurosport and the GCN app.
