BT Sport launches monthly pass

BT is launching a new monthly pass for BT Sport, offering viewers a flexible way to watch its sports channels for a monthly fee with no contract.

Available now for £25 per month and with instant access, the BT Sport Monthly Pass allows anyone to buy and watch its four TV channels, as well as BT Sport Ultimate and BT Sport Extra channels, on a month-by-month basis for the first time.

The move comes as sports fans increasingly look for more flexibility in how they both watch and pay for content, with monthly subscriptions to services, such as Amazon Prime and Sky’s NOW TV, now more preferable among many viewers compared to longer term deals linked to other TV, broadband and phone packages.

The BT Sport Monthly Pass will give sports fans access to BT’s premium sports content via the BT Sport App on Apple/Android mobile devices, online via btsport.com, Sony PlayStation 4, Apple TV, Samsung smart TVs, Xbox One and Chromecast.

Monthly pass customers will also be able to access BT Sport Ultimate, at no extra cost. BT Sport Ultimate broadcasts selected programming in 4K UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) via a range of devices. BT Sport is the first broadcaster in Europe to offer live programming all year round in 4K UHD with HDR, which enables the highest quality TV pictures seen outside of cinemas, providing colours closer to how we see them in real life.

BT Sport’s monthly pass will offer every UEFA Champions League match exclusively live, weekly live clashes from the Premier League, coverage of every round of the Emirates FA Cup, Gallagher Premiership Rugby action every weekend, top-class Saturday night boxing and much more.

Over the upcoming month, BT Sport will broadcast 14 live matches, including all nine matches from the New Year’s Day fixture list, a date which includes Arsenal v Manchester United plus Manchester City v Everton. BT Sport will show Premier League clashes throughout January 1, at 12.30pm, 3pm, 5.30pm and 8pm.

In addition, BT Sport becomes the new home of WWE in the UK from January, while four live clashes from the third round of the world’s oldest domestic cup competition will also be broadcast, including Wolves v Manchester United and Spurs’ trip to Middlesbrough.

Commenting on its new monthly pass offer, Pete Oliver, managing director, marketing for BT’s consumer division, said:

“BT Sport Monthly Pass means that customers can sign up on a flexible monthly basis for the first time and make the most of all the fantastic live sport that we have to offer.

“And with BT Sport Ultimate included, we’re giving customers the very best possible viewing experience. Monthly Pass forms part of BT’s ambition to offer BT Sport customers’ unrivalled choice and the highest quality broadcasts on even more devices and platforms.”
