The second men’s major of the year takes place at Bethpage Black as the PGA Championship moves to its new May date and Sky Sports will be the place to watch extensive live coverage of all four days.
All eyes will be on Tiger Woods as those inside the sport and beyond wonder whether he can continue his comeback of the decade, having won his fifth Green Jacket at the 2019 Masters, by just one stroke, in his first Major win in over a decade.
Can Woods maintain this fresh momentum and carry it over to the PGA Championship, or will his field of competitors including defending champion Brooks Koepka and two-time PGA winner Rory McIlroy put an end to his renaissance?
Live UK coverage of the PGA Championship returns to Sky Sports this year for the first time since 2016, following the pay-TV broadcaster’s dispute with the PGA of America.
This resulted in the 2017 tournament being shown live on the BBC, while last year’s event was shown online only via the then fledgling Eleven Sports, both broadcasters receiving criticism for their broadcasts from hardcore golf viewers.
It means for the first time since 2016 that Sky Sports will be the home to all 16 days of live coverage across all four of the men’s Majors in the calendar year.
Ahead of the start of the 2019 tournament, Sky Sports will be live with a special On The Range programme from the Long Island venue at 8pm on Wednesday, featuring an extensive preview of the tournament.
There will also be PGA Countdown broadcasts on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.30pm on Sky Sports News, bringing fans the latest news and views from Bethpage Black.
Sky Sports Golf’s live coverage of the tournament proper begins at 1.15pm on Thursday, with first-round Featured Groups live on the channel and later via the red button.
The main play-by-play coverage, presented by Nick Dougherty, then begins on Sky Sports Golf at 6pm on Thursday, with coverage also simulcast on Sky Sports Main Event at various times across all four days of the event.
Featured Groups coverage for the second round will again begin at 1pm on Friday on Sky Sports Golf and via the red button, with the main coverage from 6pm on Sky Sports Golf.
The weekend action begins at 4pm on Saturday, while Sunday’s final round will be covered from 4pm once again on Sky Sports Golf and from 7pm on Sky Sports Main Event.
Commentary across the four days comes from the regular Sky Sports team led by Ewen Murray, alongside Rob Lee, Paul McGinley and 2002 PGA champion Rich Beem, with reports and interviews from Sarah Stirk.
Alongside the usual live coverage, there will also be daily highlights on Sky Sports Golf, as well as official films from previous PGA Championships, plus Sky Sports News will offer live updates and in-round highlights as the tournament continues.
Live streaming and rolling text commentary will be hosted on the Sky Sports website – skysports.com/golf – and Sky Sports’ mobile apps, where daily reports, video highlights and features will also be available.
