The 2011 Virgin London Marathon takes place on Sunday 17 April and BBC Sport will offer exclusive live multi-platform coverage of all the action from the day.
Sue Barker leads the BBC’s live TV coverage of the 31st running of the world famous event, alongside Jonathan Edwards.
TV coverage starts on BBC Two at 8.30am then continues on BBC One from 10.15am, following the conclusion of the Chinese Grand Prix. BBC One coverage finishes at 2pm.
On the BBC Red Button and the BBC Sport website viewers can choose which race they watch with a choice of commentaries.
From 12pm there is continued coverage of the finish, plus an hour’s additional/extra coverage once network TV finishes at 2pm.
There will also be an early evening highlights programme, presented by Jonathan Edwards, on BBC Two at 6pm.
Former Olympic gold medalist Denise Lewis and BBC Sport regular Sonali Shah join the team of reporters for the first time this year, and they will bring all the action from around the course along with Katharine Merry, Colin Jackson and Phil Jones.
Commentary comes from Steve Cram, Brendan Foster, Paul Dickenson and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson.
BBC online will have a live stream of the race at bbc.co.uk/athletics, as well as text reports, video interviews and reaction. Viewers can catch up on all the programmes for seven days via the BBC iPlayer.
John Inverdale presents BBC Radio 5 Live’s coverage of the event. John is on air from 9.30am with reporters Helen Skelton, George Riley and Anna Foster around the course capturing the unique atmosphere of the race and hearing the personal stories of those taking part.
Expert commentary and analysis of the elite race comes from former British London Marathon winner Charlie Spedding. In addition, listeners can leave their good luck messages for runners, a selection of which will be played out on air.
On Thursday 14 April at 8pm on BBC Radio 5 Live, The Two-Hour Marathon, presented by Chris Dennis, looks at whether the two-hour barrier can ever be broken. Guests include Dave Bedford, the director of the London Marathon, and Mara Yamauchi, British Marathon runner.
