Premier Sports picks up Autumn Internationals rights

Premier Sports has expanded its live rugby union coverage after securing the rights to seven fixtures from the 2018 series of Autumn Internationals.

Ireland’s showcase game against Six Nations rivals Italy at the iconic NFL stadium, Soldier Field, in Chicago will kick off the pay-TV channel’s coverage on Saturday, 3 November.

This will be followed over the next three weekends with live and exclusive coverage of every France and Italy’s home autumn international, as they both take on the southern hemisphere’s big name teams, including New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Argentina.

High profile contests include Italy’s home clash against New Zealand on 24 November, in the All Blacks’ last fixture of the autumn following tough matches against both England and Ireland, while France kick off their autumn campaign against South Africa on 10 November, followed by fixtures against Argentina and Fiji.

Premier Sports will show live coverage of Ireland’s opening autumn series fixture against Italy in Chicago, the scene of their famous win against the All Blacks in 2016. The remaining three fixtures of Ireland’s autumn schedule will be broadcast live on Channel 4.

Live coverage of these autumn international fixtures will compliment Premier Sports’s continuing coverage of the Guinness PRO14 throughout November, for which it won the UK rights in May this year.

Richard Sweeney, Chief Executive of Premier Sports said:

“We are delighted to have expanded our rugby coverage to offer UK rugby supporters some fantastic international rugby action in November in addition to our full Guinness PRO14 action in Rounds 8 and 9. That’s even more wall-to-wall world-class live rugby across our channels Premier Sports 1, 2 and sister channel FreeSports every weekend next month.

“It’s set to be a thrilling series of Autumn Tests, packed full of world rugby’s top stars and bound to attract attention from rugby fans right across the UK as we lead into the Rugby World Cup next year.

“We are committed to bringing top-class rugby coverage to our subscribers and this is more positive news for our fast-growing customer base.”

Premier Sports is available in 16 million UK homes across Sky and Virgin platforms and online via the Premier Player, while sister channel FreeSports is available to 22 million UK homes across seven different platforms.

To mark its bumper November of live rugby union coverage, all new customers of Premier Sports that sign up before midnight on 31st October 2018 can get their first month free, including all seven autumn international clashes and two rounds of Guinness PRO14 rugby action, featuring 14 matches.

Both Premier Sports channels are available on a subscription basis for £9.99 per month on Sky and on the Premier Player. Visit premiersports.com for more information.
