BBC & BT Sport reveal live FA Cup 1st Round ties

The BBC and BT Sport have announced which fixtures they will televise live as part of their coverage of the First Round of the 2018/19 Emirates FA Cup.

All 40 first round ties will be played over the weekend of November 9-12, with the first pick of the live ties to be shown on the BBC, while BT Sport will broadcast a further three live games.

A bumper weekend of knockout action will begin with AFC Wimbledon’s trip to Haringey Borough, a tie which will be broadcast live on BBC Two, kicking off in its usual Friday night slot for early round fixtures, on 9 November.

The other three live televised First Round ties will be broadcast exclusively live on BT Sport over the rest of the weekend.

BT Sport’s coverage of this season’s competition kicks off with Maidenhead United taking on 2008 winners Portsmouth at York Road on Saturday, 10 November, followed by two-time FA Cup winners Sunderland and their visit to Port Vale on Sunday, 11 November

The weekend’s coverage will be rounded off with Hampton & Richmond Borough’s home tie against Oldham Athletic on Monday, 12 November, which will be preceded by the draw for the Second Round of the competition, which will be simulcast live on BBC TV and BT Sport.

This season marks the beginning of a new three-year TV deal for the competition with the BBC and BT Sport, which will bring more live televised FA Cup matches to our screens than ever before.

BBC Sport retains the first pick of matches from the first and second rounds, while BT Sport will now screen at least three live matches during the opening two rounds, as well as replays if required.

From rounds three to six, BBC TV will show two matches per round including the first pick of games, with BT Sport showing the second choice match, plus a selection of three other matches from rounds 3-5. The third and fourth picks will alternate between the two broadcasters for each round, while both will share two quarter-final matches each.

The first pick of the replays during this phase of the competition will alternate between the BBC and BT, with the BBC screening one match while BT has the option of screening at least two other games.

The BBC has first pick of the semi-finals with the other being screened by BT Sport, with both channels sharing live coverage of the 2019 FA Cup Final at Wembley on 18 May.

In addition, selected FA Cup ties featuring Welsh teams during the early rounds of the competition will be televised by either Welsh-language channel S4C or BBC Wales.

Follow all the excitement of this season’s FA Cup live on the BBC and BT Sport from now through to the showpiece final at Wembley Stadium.
