The BBC and ITV have confirmed the division of live games for the Quarter-Finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, with England’s clash against Sweden exclusively live on BBC One.

Both free-to-air broadcasters will screen two quarter-final matches between them, with the BBC having the first two picks of live games.

England’s World Cup quarter-final against Sweden on Saturday, 7 July at the Samara Arena, will be shown live on BBC One and online via the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer.

Gareth Southgate’s side beat Colombia on penalties in the last 16, while the Swedes edged past Switzerland.

The BBC will also broadcast Brazil’s quarter-final with Belgium, while the remaining clashes in the last eight see Uruguay take on France on Friday while hosts Russia meet Croatia on Saturday, both of which will be shown live on ITV.

Over 20 million viewers tuned in to watch England’s exhilarating World Cup 2018 triumph over Colombia on ITV in the last 16.

The huge audience peaked at 23.6 million during the final moments as England secured their first ever World Cup victory via a penalty shootout, making it the most watched TV moment since the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Beyond the Quarter-Final stages, ITV will have the first pick of the semi-finals matches, which will be played on 10-11 July.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Final will be staged at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday, 15 July will be broadcast live on both BBC One and ITV, while the 3rd place play-off the day before will be shown live on ITV.
