Channel 5 reveal remaining live Aviva Premiership matches

Channel 5 has announced the four remaining live free-to-air matches it will broadcast over the concluding rounds of the 2017/18 Aviva Premiership Rugby season.

At the end of December, Channel 5 broadcast the first Premiership Rugby match on mainstream terrestrial television and they will follow that up with four more fixtures, starting with the London derby between Saracens and Harlequins on Saturday, 24 March, from the London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The Channel 5 cameras move to Twickenham on 7 April where Bath Rugby are taking on Leicester Tigers in The Clash, which drew more than 60,000 fans last season.

Its final two live free-to-air matches feature two of the biggest derbies in the calendar when Northampton Saints travel to Leicester Tigers on Saturday, 14 April, followed a fortnight later with a trip to the west country to see Gloucester take on Bath.

Channel 5’s coverage will be presented by Mark Durden-Smith, alongside former England prop David Flatman, who will also be providing match commentary alongside Conor McNamara.

Reporter Sam Quek and former Northampton and England international Paul Grayson complete Channel 5’s on-air line-up.

Caj Sohal, Head of Sport for Channel 5, said:

“As the season heads to its dramatic close, we’re excited to be bringing fans four more games, all with huge implications for the League.

“These are all fixtures that matter and all absolute must-see games.”

Channel 5 rugby presenter David Flatman added:

“These are all massive, massive games, with so much at stake. I can’t wait to see how all the action unfolds.”

Channel 5 secured a deal last year to show five live Aviva Premiership Rugby matches per season for the next four years, as well as for a weekly highlights show, which recently moved to a new regular slot on Mondays at 7pm.

The network’s live matches will be produced by Sunset+Vine, who has been producing live coverage of the Premiership since 2009 for ESPN and BT Sport.

Rugby fans can catch-up on all of Channel 5’s Aviva Premiership Rugby coverage via its on-demand service My5.
