Front Runner to broadcast 2017 England Open darts

Fledgling free-to-air sports channel Front Runner has announced that it will broadcast live coverage of the England Open darts festival over the weekend of 17-18 June.

The flagship international event on the England Darts Organisation’s calendar, the 2017 edition will feature many of the top names within the ranks of BDO darts competing for the coveted titles.

The English National Championships and the 10th England Open will be broadcast live on Saturday, 17 June and Sunday, 18 June, on Freeview channel 91, Freesat 250, Sky 469 and Talk Talk/BT 91.

On Saturday, Front Runner will air the National Singles Men’s and Ladies Finals from 4.30pm, and the main show will start on Sunday at 3pm with six hours of darts from The Men’s, Ladies and Youth stage finals.

The action will take place at the Bunn Leisure Holiday Centre in Selsey, near Bognor Regis, in West Sussex, a venue which has become famous through hosting this popular annual event.

Players competing in the men’s tournaments include reigning BDO world champion Glen Durrant, who will return to defend the titles he won last year, along with familiar names such as Gary Robson, Wesley Harms and Ross Montgomery.

Deta Hedman leads a strong women’s line-up, as she bids to retain both her Open and National Singles Titles from last year, while also in the field will be multiple world champions Anastasia Dobromyslova, Trina Gulliver, Lisa Ashton.

Commenting on Front Runner’s live coverage of its flagship event, Tommy Thompson, chairman of the England Darts Organisation, said:
