Investec Derby Festival 2017 live on ITV

ITV Sport returns to Epsom Downs for the first time in 29 years as it presents exclusive free-to-air coverage of one of the greatest flat racing spectacles in the world – The Investec Derby Festival.

Marking the start of a fantastic month of flat racing, which also includes Royal Ascot later in June, the Epsom showpiece marks the third and fourth of the Five Classics to be shown live on ITV Racing, having covered the 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas from Newmarket in April, with the St Leger from Doncaster coming up in September.

ITV’s coverage from Epsom, fronted by Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani (pictured), will feature almost eight hours of live action and preview programming.

This will include going behind the scenes at the course, featuring interviews with key figures including everyone from stable staff, trainers and owners through to the jockeys as well as racing legends, sampling the atmosphere in the grandstands, with pundits bringing an expert insight into the challenge the course presents.

Joining the team for expert analysis will be Hayley Turner, Michael Kinane and Jason Weaver, with on-course reporting from Oli Bell. Brian Gleeson will provide an Irish angle on the action, while Matt Chapman will have the latest betting news, and Richard Hoiles will be in the commentary box.

Additionally, former ITV Racing presenter Brough Scott, who was part of the team the last time ITV covered the festival returns to bring his analysis and unique perspective to the action, while Lucy Verasamy will provide the latest weather forecasts and reports from around the course.

Alongside ITV’s coverage, an hour-long edition of The Opening Show, presented by Oli Bell, will air on Saturday at 9.25am on ITV to preview the Investec Derby, as well as all the other key televised races on Derby day.

ITV’s live coverage will also be simulcast on the ITV Hub, on web and app, for viewers to watch online – – and it’s responsively designed racing website – – will have clips and features from both days, helping bring the festival to life.

Racing fans can also download the free ITV Racing app (iOS), which features a new version of the iconic ITV7 competition as well as the latest news and videos.

The ITV Racing Twitter account – @itvracing – will feature clips during each of the channel’s broadcasts, and the ITV Racing Facebook page will feature a Facebook Live broadcast to preview the two festival days with Oli Bell and guests.

This year racing returned to ITV for the first time in 32 years, in a new four-year deal to show UK horse racing on terrestrial television encompassing live broadcasts of almost 100 days of racing each year – including 42 days on the main channel.

ITV’s racing calendar includes the Grand National, the Derby, and all the other major festivals including Cheltenham, Royal Ascot, and other highlights such as Future Champions Day at Newmarket and Champions Day at Ascot.

Every race from the 2017 Investec Derby festival will also be broadcast live on dedicated horse racing channel Racing UK, including exclusive live coverage of the final two races of the day.
