The glitz and glamour of one of the world’s biggest domestic cricket events returns with the Indian Premier League and Sky Sports will be showing every match exclusively live throughout April and May.
Celebrating its 10th season this year, the event has been one of the driving forces behind the explosion of Twenty20 cricket.
This campaign has already begun, in some ways, with the famous pre-season auction, where teams bid for the rights to claim some of the best players in the world, both domestic and abroad.
The 2017 edition, which will be spread over 47 days across 10 venues, will have a record number of England internationals on show – eight in total, to provide extra interest for fans back home.
Six Englishmen went under the hammer this year, highlighted by big-money multi-million dollar moves for England’s allrounder Ben Stokes and fast bowler Tymal Mills.
They’ll join the likes of Kane Williamson, star of reigning champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, Australia’s Steve Smith, and local hero Virat Kohli, who has enjoyed some stunning form with the bat in the past year. On the pitch, Hyderabad look like they will have a tough time defending their IPL crown.
Royal Challengers Banglaore, in particular, feature an explosive batting line-up, with Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers set to give bowlers nightmares on the crease.
Elsewhere, watch out for Rising Pune Supergiant, who boast the Indian pair of MS Dhoni and star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
The 2017 Indian Premier League gets underway on April 5, when defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad take on last year’s runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore, the first of 60 matches to be played, with the grand final in Hyderabad on May 21.
Details of how to follow the tournament on the box can be found below, while all the latest news, live scores and further information can be found on the official IPL website – iplt20.com.
Cricket fans can watch every game from the 2017 Indian Premier League live on Sky Sports, with selected matches also on Sky Sports Mix.
Matt Floyd leads the channel’s presenting team from Sky Studios, with special guests including Rob Key, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Shane Warne and Mark Ramprakash.
They will all provide expert analysis and demonstrations throughout Sky’s coverage of the tournament, while Mark Butcher will be behind the scenes in India, showing the unique sights and sounds as the country goes IPL crazy.
Sky Sports subscribers can also watch all the action live online via Sky Go, while video highlights of all the key moments, as well as match reports, news, reaction, analysis, scorecards, videos and podcasts can be found on skysports.com/cricket, with score updates on Twitter via @SkyCricket.
