Davis Cup 2017: France v Great Britain live on BBC

0

Great Britain face France away in the quarter-finals of the 2017 Davis Cup, live on the BBC from April 7-9.

Leon Smith’s team head to Rouen’s Kindarena to take on Yannick Noah’s French outfit, with the Brits aiming to reach a third straight semi-final in the self-styled ‘World Cup of Tennis’.

The 2015 champions beat Canada in the first round following a bizarre end to the tie when teenager Denis Shapovalov was defaulted for hitting a ball into the face of the umpire.

The squad had also been without world number one Andy Murray, who was rested after the Australian Open, and he will also miss this quarter-final tie against the French as he recovers from an elbow injury.

This tie therefore will also have a completely different feel to the nations’ last meeting, a 2015 quarter-final on grass at Queen’s Club, which the Brits won 3-1.

The indoor clay in Rouen is likely to pose much more of a challenge for the Great Britain line-up of Dan Evans, Kyle Edmund, Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot, but the France team will be without three of their top four players, with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet all unavailable.

Great Britain also leads the overall head-to-head against France 12-9, has won on clay in each of the last two years and should be confident of reaching the last four once again.

BBC Sport will have live coverage of all three days of quarter-final tie across BBC One and BBC Two, with additional coverage on BBC Red Button, while full uninterrupted coverage can be found online via connected TVs, the BBC Sport website and app.

Sue Barker presents BBC TV’s live coverage alongside former Davis Cup players John Lloyd and Jamie Baker.

As well as Great Britain’s exploits, tennis fans can also watch live streaming of all the other quarter-final matches – Belgium v Italy, Australia v United States and Serbia v Spain – via the Davis Cup Super Feed on Connected TV, the BBC Sport website and app.
