Sky Sports and BT Sport have revealed their opening live TV selections for the first two weekends of the 2016/17 Ladbrokes Premiership season.

Three live TV games will kick off the new season on August 6-7, starting with Rangers’ first match on their return to the top flight of Scottish football, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Mark Warburton’s side, who were demoted to League Two following financial irregularities in 2012, host Hamilton Academical at Ibrox in the opening TV game of the campaign, kicking off at 12.30pm.

The following day, Sky Sports cameras will be in Edinburgh to see new Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers begin the Hoops’ quest for a sixth successive title against Hearts at Tynecastle.

BT Sport’s coverage also kicks off on the opening weekend with the meeting of St Johnstone and Aberdeen at McDiarmid Park on Sunday, August 7, which will be followed on the second weekend by Dundee’s match against Rangers.

Sky Sports and BT Sport will show up to 30 live Scottish league matches each throughout the 2016/17 season, with Sky covering all four Old Firm derbies during the Premiership campaign exclusively live.

Alongside its shared SPFL coverage with Sky, BT Sport takes over the rights to screen Scottish League Cup matches, with the newly-branded Betfred Cup kicking off the broadcaster’s Scottish football coverage in mid-July.
